My favorites of emerging designers and Ecollection at the WWDMagic would have to be:
Kelly Beth Design – As I walked through the e-collections arena, I immediately noticed the designs of twin sisters, Kelly and Katie of Kellybeth.
This creative accessories line features recycled credit cards and gift cards that have been transformed into edgy bracelet and earrings. The designs are unique and versatile for eco-conscious, adventurous fashionistas who want be noticed. With a playful use of pattern and colors ranging from vibrant to neutral, these versatile designs can dress up (or down) almost any occasion or outfit, depending on the mood. This emerging eco-design duo has truly re-invented what it means to accessorize, fusing alternative materials, personality and creativity into wearable statements and pieces of art.
Ethos Paris —I’ve seen a lot of organic design clothing, but this one is super different and very trendy. Leslie Leroux, owner and designer, is one eco-designer who really gets it. Leslie and her mom founded Ethos Paris in 2002 and ever since they’ve recruited collective amazing designers. Sophisticated women who seek high-quality, design-forward garments with organic materials will appreciate these contemporary looks. All garments are created with fair trade, organic cotton and herbal dyes, and nothing goes to waste during the process. Even the water used during the dyeing process is recycled. These are designs women will not only feel great about wearing, but they’ll love how they look while wearing them too. For this rising designer, this new eco line is a way to showcase her fine arts degree and contribute to a fairer world.
Also, make sure to check out her line at Portland Fashion Week. She will be showcasing her spring/summer 2010 line on October 7-11, 2009
Silly Souls —This awesome clothing company creates fun and cute apparel/accessories for babies with attitude. Perfectly capturing the parent/baby condition, the sayings on these outfits and accessories made me LOL, from feeding gags (Sucker, Milk Junkie) to political (Benevolent Dictator). Tots wearing these shoes, clothing and accessories will definitely get their fair share of attention. With an extensive product line, the owner, Shelly, does an amazing job making it all funky and cool, like no other.
